Irvington has a unique heritage as a community in support of the arts. As early as 1928 till 1937, Irvington artists' works were promoted through a series of annual exhibits. Sponsored by a group of Irvington clubs, these exhibitions attracted the attention of patrons throughout the state. Some of the professional artists who displayed their works during these exhibitions included William Forsyth, Clifton Wheeler, Charles Yeager, and Carolyn Bradley. Many examples of these artists' works are now the property of the Irvington Historical Society. To continue the tradition of celebrating the arts in Irvington, the Irvington Guild Of Artists sponsors an annual exhibition to showcase the artwork in the collections of Irvington residents. This provides an opportunity for the community to see artwork in private collections and creates an exhibition to show the diversity of collecting art from many different points of view. Please enjoy the selection of works shared from the private collections of your neighbors |
